This course introduces pickling and fermenting with practical components so you can preserve your own food at home. Whether you are looking for a way to lower your food bills, create new delicious food tailored to your taste preferences, or just want to learn more about how food transforms over the course of preservation, I am sure you will find this informative and helpful.

Intended Audience
The intended audience are adults and people who have no experience creating their own home preserved foods. No cooking background is required and visual instructions are available for food preparation, however access to a kitchen with some equipment will be required.
Learning Outcomes
After completing this WBLT, the user should be able to:
- Preserve foods through pickling and fermenting
- Have enough of a theoretical foundation to safely create their own pickling recipes
- Understand the basic idea and areas of fermentation enough to research other fermentation types

Bio: Stephen has worked for over a decade educating students across a variety of ages in the math and sciences. He has worked at Conestoga College as a teaching assistant, as a tutor for the drop-in service in the math center, at CHELP Tutor School, and as an independent tutor. He is now a graduate student at Ontario Tech University. Stephen’s projects include development of Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) manipulatives and AR/VR online course content.
