This tutorial is for information technology students. Version Control is an essential employability skill and Git with GitHub is the industry's leading tool set for this process. Mastering git fundamentals is a vital step in preparing for a career in I.T. This introductory training module introduces the basic concepts of Version Control and provides practice in creating a project archive and syncing it to an online cloud service for secure backup.

- Understand what Version Control Systems are and why developers use them
- Set up the Git software application on a computer
- Create a local history of a software project
- Sync a local project history to GitHub's cloud service
- Document a project using a README file
